They say money can't buy love - but £1million will get you man's most expensive best friend.
A red Tibetan mastiff has become the priciest dog in the world after being sold for 10 million Chinese yuan, or £945,000 or US$1.5m.

Big Splash, or Hong Dong in Chinese, was bought by a coal baron from the north of China .
And it's lucky his new master is a multi-millionaire, because the hefty price tag doesn't factor in Big Splash's diet - enough chicken and beef to fill a growing 180lb dog, spiced up with Chinese delicacies such as sea cucumber and abalone.

His owner will need a big house too, as adult Tibetan Mastiffs have been known to weigh as much as 286lb, or more than 20 stone - the same as a sizeable rugby player. However the typical weight for a fully grown Tibetan Mastiff is around 13 stone.

But according to breeder Lu Liang, Big Splash is a 'perfect specimen' and the extravagant price for the 11-month-old is completely justified.

He said: 'We have spent a lot of money raising this dog, and we have the salaries of plenty of staff to pay' - adding that the new owner could charge almost £10,000 a time for Big Splash to breed with a female.
The high price paid for the dog is a sign that the red Tibetan mastiff has become a status symbol in China , replacing jewellery and cars as a way for the super-rich to show off their wealth.

Not only is red considered a lucky colour, but Tibetan mastiffs are thought to be holy animals, blessing their owners' health and security.

Tibetans believe the dogs have the souls of monks and nuns who were not good enough to be reincarnated as humans or into Shambhala, the heavenly realm.

Owners of the breed have included Queen Victoria, King George IV and Genghis Khan - who supposedly took 30,000 of the dogs with his ar my in his bid to conquer Western Europe .

These days there are only around 300 Tibetan mastiffs in the UK , and puppies sell for a more reasonable £850 to £1,000.

James Pally, a Tibetan mastiff breeder from Pantymwyn near Mold in Flintshire, North Wales , said:
'They are very smart and they think for themselves and can sense danger very acutely.
'Tibetan mastiffs were originally used to guard the livestock and they are very good with other animals and they love children.

'I have six of them and if you don't give them enough attention they sit in front of the TV.'

The title of most expensive dog in the world was previously held by a Tibetan mastiff called Red Lion, who was valued at £915,000 last year.

Headless valley

In the Nahanni National Park of Northwest Canada lies the Nahanni River. The area is only accessible by boat or plane and is home to many natural wonders, such as sinkholes, geysers and a waterfall almost double the size of Niagara Falls. Lord Tweeds Muir (John Buchan), author of The 39 Steps, once said of the valley: “It’s a fancy place that old-timers dream about. … Some said the “valley was full of gold and some said it was hot as hell owing to the warm springs. … It had a wicked name too, for at least a dozen folks went in and never came out’ … Indians said it was the home of devils.”

The 200 Mile gorge has become infamous, due to a number of gruesome deaths and many disappearances, earning itself the eerie name, The Valley of the Headless Men. Anomalies first began in 1908, when the Macleod Brothers came prospecting for gold in the valley. Nothing was heard or seen of the brothers for a whole year, until their decapitated bodies were found near a river. Nine years later, the Swiss prospector Martin Jorgenson was next to succumb to the Valley, when his headless corpse was found. In 1945, a miner from Ontario was found in his sleeping bag with his head cut from his shoulders. While skeptics of an unknown power at work in the Valley would put the grizzly mutilations down to feuding gold prospectors or hostile Indians, there are other strange happenings in the area which add to the valleys mysteriousness. The fiercely renowned Naha tribe simply vanished from the area a few years prior to the first deaths. Other Indians of the area have avoided the Valley for centuries, claiming an unknown evil haunts it. Many parts of the valley remain unexplored, and there are tales the Valley holds an entrance to the Hollow earth. Others believe the Valley is home to a lost world, with lush greenery and a tropical climate, due to the hot springs generating warm air, as well as untapped goldmines and wandering sasquatches. While a haven for Bigfoot remains unlikely, one thing is for certain, something strange lurks in the Nahanni Valley.

Povegelia island

Poveglia Island is one of many island in the lagoons of Venice, Italy but instead of being a place of beauty, the island is a festering blemish in the shimmering sea and is not only regarded as one of the most haunted locations on the planet, but also one of the most evil places in the world. Today no one visits save to harvest the vineyards. Fishermen even steer clear of the island for fear that they will catch human bones in their nets.

The dark history of Poveglia Island began during the Roman Era when it was used to isolate plague victims from the general population. Centuries later, when the Black Death rolled through Europe it served that purpose again. The dead were dumped into large pits and buried or burned. As the plague tightened its grip, the population began to panic and those residents showing the slightest sign of sickness were taken from their homes and to the island of Poveglia kicking and screaming and pleading. They were thrown onto piles of rotting corpses and set ablaze. Men, women, children... all left to die in agony. It's estimated that the tiny island saw as many as 160,000 bodies during this time.

The island has become a putrid area indeed. The soil of the island combined with the charred remains of the bodies dumped there creating a thick layer of sticky ash. The core of the island is literally human remains that has given the island a loathsome reputation, but appears to be very good for the grapevines that are planted there. Think about that next time you partake of Italian wine!

As if the story was not disturbing enough, it gets worse. In 1922 the island became home to a psychiatric hospital complete with a large and very impressive bell tower. The patients of this hospital immediately began to report that they would see ghosts of plague victims on the island and that they would be kept up at night hearing the tortured wails of the suffering spirits. Because they were already considered mad by the hospital staff, these complaints were largely ignored.

To add to the anguish of the poor souls populating this island hospital, one doctor there decided to make a name for himself by experimenting on his subjects all to find a cure for insanity. Lobotomies were performed on his pitiable patients using crude tools like hand drills, chisels, and hammers. Those patients and even the ones who were not privy to the doctor's special attentions were taken to the bell tower where they were tortured and subjected to a number of inhumane horrors.

According to the lore, after many years of performing these immoral acts, the evil doctor began to see the tortured plague ridden spirits of Poveglia Island himself. It is said that they led him to the bell tower where he jumped (or was thrown) to the grounds below. The fall did not kill him according to a nurse who witnessed the event, but she related that as he lay on the ground writhing in pain, a mist came up out of the ground and choked him to death. It's rumored that the doctor is bricked up in the hospital bell tower and on a still night, the bell can be heard tolling across the bay. The hospital closed down.

For a time, the Italian government owned the island, but it was later sold. That owner abandoned it in the 1960's and was the last person to try and live there. A family recently sought to buy the island and build a holiday home on it but they left the first night there and refused to comment on what happened. The only fact that we do know is that their daughters face was ripped open and required fourteen stitches.

Today Poveglia is uninhabited and tourism to island is strictly forbidden. Every now and then the lapping waves on the shore uncover charred human bones.

Several psychics have visited the island the abandoned hospital, but all of them left scared to death of what they had sensed there. Every now and then daredevils dodge the police patrols to explore the island, but everyone who has made it there have refused to return saying that there is a heavy atmosphere of evil and they the screams and tortured moans that permeate the island make staying there unbearable.

One report from a misguided thrill seeker who fled the island says that after entering the abandoned hospital, a disembodied voice ordered them, "Leave immediately and do not return."

They never did.

SS Ourang Medan

In February, 1948, distress calls were picked up by numerous ships near Indonesia, from the Dutch freighter SS Ourang Medan. The chilling message was, “All officers including captain are dead lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead.” This message was followed by indecipherable Morse code then one final grisly message… “I die.” When the first rescue vessel arrived on the scene a few hours later, they tried to hail the Ourang Medan but there was no response. A boarding party was sent to the ship and what they found was a frightening sight that has made the Ourang Medan one of the strangest and scariest ghost ship stories of all time.

All the crew and officers of the Ourang Medan were dead, their eyes open, faces looking towards the sun, arms outstretched and a look of terror on their faces. Even the ship’s dog was dead, found snarling at some unseen enemy. When nearing the bodies in the boiler room, the rescue crew felt a chill, though the temperature was near 110°F. The decision was made to tow the ship back to port, but before they could get underway, smoke began rolling up from the hull. The rescue crew left the ship and barely had time to cut the tow lines before the Ourang Medan exploded and sank.

To this day, the exact fate of the Ourang Medan and her crew remains a mystery.

Overtoun Bridge

The Overtoun Bridge is an arch bridge located near Milton, Dumbarton, Scotland, which was built in 1859. It has become famous for the number of unexplained instances in which dogs have, apparently, committed suicide by leaping off it. The incidents were first recorded around the 1950′s or 1960′s, when it was noticed that dogs – usually the long-nosed variety, like Collies – would suddenly and unexpectedly leap off the bridge and fall fifty feet, to their deaths. In some cases, however, the dogs would survive, recuperate, and then leap off the bridge again. What makes this tragic mystery even more mysterious is that many of the dogs that jump from Overton Bridge jump from the same side and from almost the same spot: between the final two parapets on the right-hand side of the bridge.

Some believe that the bridge is haunted. In 1994, a man threw his baby son off the bridge, claiming that it was the anti-Christ. Later, the man attempted suicide there as well. Was Overtoun Bridge responsible for this tragic event? Some believe that Overtoun Bridge is a “thin place”, where the barrier between the world of the living and the world of the dead meet, and sometimes cross over.

Shanti Deva

In 1930, aged 4, Shanti Deva from Delhi, India, told her parents that she had once lived in a place called Muttra (now known as Mathura), that she had been a mother of three, who died in childbirth, and that her previous name was Ludgi. Because the girl continually related the story, her parents investigated. It turned out there was a village called Muttra, and that a woman named Ludgi had recently died there. They took Shanti to the village where she began to speak the local dialect and recognized her previous-life husband and children. She even gave twenty four accurate statements matching confirmed facts about Ludgi’s life. An impressive feat for a four year old.

Saturday 9th April, Genting Pahang : There has been numerous reports by women claiming that there has been a peeping tom at the various toilets in Genting. For the past few weeks officials had been unable to capture the perpetrator until a young gay man with his camera was able to catch the culprit in the act. (Above is the Peeping Tom facebook photo). Below is the exclusive pictures of the perpetrator walking away from the crime scene.

In this picture the Peeping tom is seen leaving the toilet, notice the sign above. It's the girl's toilet, this picture has not been photoshopped or altered in anyway, the peeping tom tries to cover his face in shame of his "ham sup" act.

He realizes that he has been spotted and tries to get his face out of the way, but its too late as the pictures has already been taken, so he tries to make the camera shots look blur by dodging left and right.

He finally relents and pretends to walk away as though he has gone into the wrong toilet, but we all know the truth!. The "Peeping tom of Genting! " is finally caught on camera!

BUTTERWORTH: The Road Transport Department is looking into the possibility of amending the Road Transport Act to fine motorists who fix television screens and DVD players in their vehicles.

State Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Datuk Hassan Yaacob said an amendment could be made under Section 66 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for making vehicle alterations without permission.

“It is illegal and dangerous to fix these accessories. A driver can easily get distracted and it may result in accidents,’’ he said.

Hassan said enforcement teams would check if vehicles had complied with approved specifications.

“Those with xenon headlights will be fined RM300 while vehicles with fancy number plates will be fined RM120.

“In the end, they waste money by paying thrice – fixing the parts, paying the fine and paying again to remove them,” he said.

Hassan was commenting on the increasing number of motorists fixing televisions and DVD player sets in their vehicles.

On vehicles that are factory fitted with DVD players and GPS navigators, he said the department would have to look into it.

As we all now know that there will another “Great X-Destination” dinner coming around soon. This time, the dinner will have a greater excitement to it as there will be a convoy movement. And with the confirmed participation of a number of rides, there are rules which we all must adhere to.

The plans are as followed:-

Abu Dhabi Hotel Regrets $11M Spent on Christmas Tree Decorations

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – An Abu Dhabi luxury hotel that boasted an $11 million Christmas tree decorated with gold and gems admitted Sunday it may have taken the holiday spirit a bit too far.

A statement from the Emirates Palace hotel said it regretted "attempts to overload" the Christmas tree tradition by adorning it with premium bling including gold, rubies, diamonds and other precious stones from a hotel jeweler.

The statement was a rare bit of reflection on the Gulf's ethos of excess. The tree was unveiled last week with full fanfare in a hotel that features its own gold bar vending machine and a one-week $1 million package that includes private jet jaunts around the Middle East.

But the hotel management apparently had second thoughts after questions arose about whether the opulent tree was innocent good cheer or unfortunate bad taste.

The hotel regrets "attempts to overload the tradition followed by most hotels in the country with meanings and connotations that do not fall in line with the (hotel's) professional standards," said a statement carried on the state-run news agency WAM.

The hotel even tried to distance itself from the 43-foot (13-meter) faux fir in one of its rotundas, saying a hotel-based jeweler was solely responsible for creating and decorating the tree.

"The hotel is just a venue for exhibiting the tree," the statement said.

The hotel also claimed the tree was not a stunt, but rather an effort to boost the holiday mood for its guests based on the United Arab Emirates' "values of openness and tolerance."

Although officially Muslim, the UAE features many signs of Christmas for its huge foreign population. Lights, carolers and Santas are fixtures in nearly every mall.

"KUALA LUMPUR: Seven people were killed and 39 others injured in a bus accident at Genting Sempah.

The accident, which happened at 7.50pm last night, involved a group from the 4B Youth Movement, Kampung Siong, Kedah, said Selangor traffic chief Supt Che Hussein Omar.

“Seventeen were seriously injured while the remaining 22 suffered minor injuries,” he said.

“Two people were thrown out from the bus.”

How can we be discussing what is near and far if your definition and mine differs so much? My 180 is created by you when you deemed that I am using perception as definition. Twisted facts. 1) The argument is totally on the distance of travel because I called on JS to use his "lopek" GPS

to find out the how far is it! Unfortunately it was dead and we couldn't settle it then. By the way, I've travel to Ulu Yam more than twice and I can bring you there using 5 different ways. Why? because I uses it every year to balik kampung, I just forgot about the town name at the time.(A reason at least).

The whole point of the argument was i said IT WAS NEAR! you said it was FAR!...you NEVER said anything about distance...since near and far depends on the user of the term you should realise that with your agreement of my "Near" terms and conditions i already won the argument...Basically this sums up my argument...and im lazy cos you keep saying things which i already stated in the previous post...ah hong ah hong...

KUALA LUMPUR: A technician in his 30s, who works in the Klang Valley, has won RM11.66mil in his first attempt at the Power Toto 6/55 lotto game on Aug 25 with the numbers 12, 16, 28, 39, 40 and 47.

Although he regularly plays various Toto games, the winner’s lucky try on Power Toto 6/55 was his first, said Toto in a media statement.

When he realised that he had the winning set of numbers, the technician called his mother to share the good news and had to take sleeping pills on the night of the draw.

Jay Chou blows RM4.6mil in Singapore casino in two days

TAIWANESE pop star Jay Chou lost nearly S$2mil (RM4.6mil) at a casino in Singapore, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

The superstar had visited the Marina Bay Sands Casino during his concert tour in the republic last month.

He gambled off between S$100,000 and S$200,000 (RM232,000 and RM463,000) per bet. In just two days, Chou lost almost S$2mil (RM4.6mil) playing bacarrat.

A customer of the casino said Chou was accompanied by his manager and male friends.

According to the customer, Chou had good etiquette on the gambling table and he only wanted to be served by “aunties”.

A RICH Singaporean man, who lost S$26mil (RM62mil) in a three-day gambling spree, plans to sue a world-renowned casino there for loaning him a huge sum of money to gamble without first checking his financial position, reported China Press.

According to a legal document, the 50-year-old businessman, was loaned S$500,000 (RM1.2mil) for gambling by the casino in March and the loan was later increased to S$2mil (RM4.8mil) the following month.

He also claimed that he had experienced losing and winning money amounting to a few hundred thousand dollars in each gambling session and once it reached as high as S$6mil (RM15mil) and yet he could still get a loan by just filling up an application form.

When his losses exceeded S$4mil (RM9.6mil), the businessman said his girlfriend cried and begged the casino not to loan him any more money.

In spite of that, the casino staff told him that he could continue getting loans although he had exceeded the credit limit.

I'm going to be honest of what I'm going to say here:
I'm 25 this year.
I'm very pretty, have style and good taste.
I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.
You might say that I'm greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York.
My requirement is not high:
Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary?
Are you all married?
I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?
Among those I've dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit. If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden, $250k annual income is not enough.

From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you.
The answer is very simple, so let me explain.

Put the details aside, what you're trying to do is an exchange of "beauty" and "money":
Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square.
However, there's a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason.
The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can't be prettier year after year.
Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset.
It's not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation.
If that is your only asset, your value will be much worried 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a "trading position".

I saw some people liking najib razak page over facebook? Good grief, you people gotta be kidding me... Please wake up and realise that we have a balding, murdering crook plotting to bring this whole country to its' knees by leeching us bankrupt as our prime minister. An absolute disaster you people are ignorantly supporting by hitting that "Like" button. With this, it got my fire started.

One matter: Why was 1Malaysia campaign launched? Is there a civil war going on within the country? Any riots over racial/ethnical issues? My answer is none. We real malaysians stand united without the need for such wasteful campaigns. The whole idea of this current ruling government is to get racist, when you start thinking about it. No other country in this world demands you to fill in your "race" in official forms/documents. Of course nationality is important, but "race"??? Why najib launched 1Malaysia is because he [along with the government's office] wanted UMNO supporters to reunite and reignite racism flames amongst the different ethnical groups...

Old trick, retards. The younger generation of Malaysians now see right through that gimmick due to higher levels of education. (with many surpassing that of our nation's leaders. Shocking fact: Sami Vellu never studied past secondary and is a gangster, while najib's top qualifications was just a degree, making all Masters holders in education -and higher- in this country instantly more elligible and capable to take over that position anytime if you think from a corporate perspective.) Man, i could probably even do a better job than the current prime minister since i've got more common sense any given second. But then again, being cunning was never my forte.

Lemme share my opinions -- This generation of leaders are so corrupted that all i can do is shake my head in disgust every time a working class friend/relative tells me how things are done within government-related offices and government-linked businesses. But fret not, because i'm confident this bunch are not gonna last any much longer with old, expiring tactics. Why? Because i'm confident of the fact that >50% of the Malaysian population are aged 35 and under, understand the gravity of this issue and are standing up for a change in tides and making waves, paving the way for a new batch of leaders who are more focused on building a nation with Malaysians in mind rather than their cronies and their own pockets.

Of course, herein lies the responsibility we all are aware of, and must carry out knowing that there will be a difference to make, starting with our own. I implore you to register yourselves to vote if you are of age and havent done it already, assuming that the next general elections are round the corner. Gerrymandering has been performed, but we must do our part in order for change to happen... You may think that a single vote contributed may not have any effect, but it does, severely, when a thousand, or ten thousand other elligible voters think as you do.

However if you feel that you're "neutral" or "not interested" in politics, then dont pay taxes. The government is just pocketing it and leaving crumbs for the nation's honest citizens fit for dogs. So what if you get caught evading taxes and fined heavily? Well, it's the same... You're already committing a crime to yourself, your family and the rest of the nation by your inaction. It makes no difference. So dont complain when prices of petrol are on the rise. And dont even complain when the police force are inferior to our guard-dogs or when crime rates are on the rise, or if the conditions of the roads you drive on are unbelievably terrible it damages your vehicle, or if the quality of life along with your income remains the same when inflation rate hikes like a helium balloon.

Spread the word. We need all the help we can get, beginning with friends and relatives... I hope i wont have to wait too long in order to see the change take place...

The Most Exciting Sunday

Today is Sunday the 18th, a bright and beautiful morning and we (Aaron, Danny, Christian and me) almost ended up like below...

But luckily for us we were blessed by a guardian angle and everything turned out okay and we are still here to laugh and even blog about the whole thing. Guess all of us have to go and "Touch wood"

Here's how it all went down. It's Sunday morning, our good friend Aaron was shifting from his old house in Usj9 to his new house in Kota Kemuning, so he asked if any of us could help shift some stuff. Out of our whole gang only me, danny and chris went to help. After an arduous hour of shifting stuff into the "Ten Tonne lorry", it was filled to the brim with furniture and what not. So it was time to lead the lorry to the new house. We then went into Aaron's Latio and drove at the end of the lane to await the lorry which was situated at Aaron's old house. Aaron's was the driver, Danny sitting in front, Christian sitting behind Danny and me behind Aaron.

Those familiar with Usj 9 will know that the roads at this end tend to slope downwards and is kinda packed with cars to the left and to the right.

So while in Aaron's car at the end (in the middle) of the lane we waited for the lorry to come. After a boring minute or so we started chatting and crapping as usual not having the faintest idea the next few moments could have been our last. I and christian was the first to notice that the lorry has started to make its move, at that moment Danny and Aaron was busy chatting with Aaron looking out of the driver's window away from the lane.

Midway point to Impact

During the lorry's midway point we noticed the co-driver frantically swinging his hand indicating us to get out of our way, That when i felt uneasy and i said " Aaron, go...". Aaron was still busy looking out the window thinking i was joking or playing some stupid trick. Danny curiously looked out his window to notice the lorry picking up speed with no intention of slowing down.
I then started to increase my tone and repeated "Aaron, go...Aaron, GO!...AARON GOOOOO!!! ".

10 metres to Impact

Danny grew frantic and the only thing he said was "wah..Wah...WAH....WAH!!! " as the lorry grew closer and closer. Me and christian was still looking at the lorry as it grew closer and closer swaying madly avoiding the cars parked on the left and right. The first sign of trouble was when the co driver opened the door flailing his arm madly while the driver did a last second sharp turning to avoid an Atos parked on the left side of the road before he and the co-driver JUMPED OUT OF THE LORRY!!!.

That's when we knew in our mind " F***, We are so dead"

Few precious seconds to Impact

During the events above Aaron's in his panic state was pressing down hard on the accelerator but he had forgotten he put the car in neutral, fumbling around panicking Aaron at last got to change it to Drive but this sight was already outside our window...

Impact

It was a sight i don't think i would forget anytime soon. All we could do was brace for impact as Aaron floored the car and the Lorry with no driver hit us so hard i almost forgot my own name. It was a whirlwind of crashing and exploding noises (1 tire exploded) and all i could see was the lorry banging, the glass cracking, the entire car frame shivering, the engine revving. It happened all so fast but felt like everything was in slow motion. Luckily with Aaron's last minute intervention we were not in the middle of the lorries way but slightly off and so we were literally banged aside like a rag doll. The lorry then continued its bullish path hitting a black new saga parked at the end of the road, nearly off into the drain in front.

Luckily the saga was without a driver and there wasn't any cars on the road during whole course of the accident.

If the saga had a driver...it wouldn't be pretty...

Aaron's car after the accident...we were waiting horizontally but ended up vertical like in the pic...just goes to show how hard the lorry banged us...

The Bumper fell off, one tired exploded and the left side of the car was a total mess...

All of us walking away from this in one piece...we should count our lucky stars and thank god for this...

You might be wondering how this whole thing could have happened. Apparently the driver of the lorry doesn't have a ten tonne lorry driving license (meaning he doesn't know anything about driving a vehicle of this size). The driver didn't start the engine but he instead LET GO of the hand brake first ( who in the right mind do that?). The reason he couldn't brake was because ten tonne lorries uses air brakes which requires the engine to be started first to allow intake of air into the brakes BEFORE they can be used. Some other things we found out, the lorry's road tax has expired over a year and when we asked why they never HON us, they replied the lorry doesn't have A HON!...

On a brighter side:

We were joking about this whole incident, about how

1) It was a once in a lifetime experience, its not everyday you get banged by a ten tonne lorry and live to tell the tale.

2) If we went, we went together with best friends

3) Danny and Christian get to tell their Gf's how much they love them

4) Don't take life for granted anytime anywhere it can be just snuffed out like a candle

Aaron: Bluff want lar movies, say before you die you get to see your life flash by you and see the faces of the ones you love...
Me: HAHAHA the last faces i saw flash past me was Christian sliding towards me and Danny's panicked face!!

IMH has an old lady who wears black, carries a black umbrella and squats at the entrance to the IMH everyday without fail, rain or

The doctor wanted to administer treatment for her but decided to
understand her behavior first.
So, the doctor also wears black and carries a black umbrella; squatted besides her everyday. The days go by...the two of them squatted side-by-side w/o a single exchange of word. After one solid month, the old lady finally broke the silence and asked the doctor:

"Err...Excuse me! Are you also a mushroom?"

A nurse saw a patient writing a letter. She got curious and went to
take a peek. But the patient didn't wanna let her see.
Nurse (unable to contain her curiosity): "Who are you writing to?"
Patient: "I'm writing a letter to myself..."
Her curiosity grew and she thought to herself (Why would someone write a letter to himself?) So she asked again: "So...what's written inside?"
Patient (got impatient): "You crazy ah? I haven't received the letter, how would I know??"

Two patients escape from the IMH. They climbed up a tree and one of them fell from the tree and started rolling on the ground.
After a while, the patient below shouted to the one on top: "Hey! How come you are not coming down yet?"
The patient on top replied: "No. no...I can't...I'm not ripe yet"

One patient visited the doctor: "Doc...How? I think I'm a chicken
since the day I was born..."
Doctor: "Wah! That's very serious...Why do you only come and seek treatment now?"

One truck driver was doing his usual delivery to IMH.
He discovered a flat tyre when he was about to go home. He jacked up the truck and took the flat tyre down. When he was about to fix the spare tyre, he accidentally dropped all the bolts into the drain. As he can't fish the bolts out, he started to panic.

One patient happened to walk past and asked the driver what happened.
The driver thought to himself, since there's nothing much he can do; he told the patient the whole incident.
The patient laughed at him & said "can't even fix such a simple
problem...no wonder you are destined to be a truck driver..."
Here's what you can do, take one bolt each from the other 3 tyres and fix it onto this tyre. Then drive to the nearest workshop and replace the missing ones, easy as that"
The driver was very impressed and asked "You're so smart but why do are you here at the IMH?"
Patient replied: "Hello, I stay here because I'm crazy not STUPID!"

Friday) – The Syariah Court today has today declared that the late Tan
Sri Lim Goh Tong was a Muslim when he passed away more than 10 years
ago in 2007. The Syariah Court also ruled that since no non-Muslim is
allowed to inherit any part of a Muslim’s assets or wealth, the
inheritance of Lim’s property by his non-Muslim children are invalid
and unlawful.

“Therefore, the assets should be
immediately returned to Tan Sri Lim’s name, and then redistributed to
his Muslim heirs (if any) according to Syariah law. If he has no Muslim
heir, then the assets shall be given to the Islamic authorities and
they can do whatever they wish. The non-Muslim children are
disinherited.” The Syariah Court ruled.

Dato’
Zakaria Lim Abdullah, 35, the late Tan Sri Lim’s only Muslim child and
the 20th of his 20 offsprings, is now poised to become the Chairman of
Genting Group, 1 of Southeast Asia’s richest companies worth RM2
trillion as at press time. (He would have inherited only 1/20 of Tan
Sri Lim’s assets if Tan Sri Lim was not declared a Muslim.) However, he
refused to confirm whether he would stop the gambling business of
Genting even though it is haram under Islamic law.

“Are
you saying that our Hadhari government should refuse to collect taxes
from gambling, alcohol, pork and other haram businesses?” Dato’ Zakaria
replied, perhaps rhetorically.

Dato’
Zakaria has also said that his shall honor his pledge to donate 1/10 of
his newly inherited fortune to Jabatan Agama Islam Pahang and UMNO in
equal share if he won the case, made 3 days before the Syariah Court
decision.

“Business Reasons”

“My
late father wanted to keep his conversion secret because he was a
gambling tycoon, and he did not want to jeopardize his gambling empire
or make his shareholders lose confidence in Genting,” said Dato’ Zakaria during the hearing in Syariah Court. The Syariah Court felt that “this
is most likely true because of the huge business implications. It is
very normal for Chinese to do this. We can accept that.”

As
to the testimonies of Tan Sri Lim’s 19 other offsprings in the Syariah
Court, who unanimously disputed the alleged conversion, the Syariah
Court said,

“Even though it is 19 to 1,
but because the non-Muslim witnesses refused to swear on the Qur’an
before they testified in court, we could not consider their
testimonies. In any event, even if they did swear on the Qur’an, the
dhimmis… sorry, the non-Muslims would still carry less weight when
compared to the testimony of 2 Muslim men. It is not about the number,
it is about quality of the witnesses.”

The
other witness supporting Dato’ Zakaria’s claim to have witnessed Tan
Sri Lim’s conversion is Ustaz Abdul Rahman Ganinah Abdullah, 23 year
old. The Ustaz would have been only 13 year old at that time of the
conversion, but the Syariah Court said that,

“Being
a righteous, God-fearing Muslim, we have no reason to suspect that the
Ustaz told any lie. In any event, he has reached the age of puberty at
the time (of the conversion) so he was qualified to witness the
conversion.”

“Answer To God” – It Depends

The Syariah Court has also ruled that the overwhelming evidence of Tan Sri Lim drinking alcohol, praying to pagan idols, celebrating pagan religious festivals, eating pork and gambling in his own Genting Casino and generally behaving like a non-Muslim all his life until his death was “…irrelevant. Once you have converted, you are a Muslim till you die, no matter what you did before your death. You will answer to God for all your sins.”

However, on the same kind of “answer to God” argument made by the non-Muslim children that:

“By
the same logic, the Deceased himself should answer to God for
concealing his alleged 'conversion' from his family and resulting in
him not being buried as a Muslim and his assets distributed among his
non-Muslim children; it's not up to the Islamic Authority to insist on
his assets being inherited under Islamic law if he, KNOWING THAT HIS ASSETS WOULD BE DISTRIBUTED LIKE AN INFIDEL (AND HE MIGHT BURN IN HELL), still didn’t want to tell his family to bury him as a Muslim and distribute his assets like a Muslim.”

the Syariah Court said “you
cannot say he must answer to God for everything. Sometimes he also has
to answer to us, the Islamic Authority and Syariah Court. If we say he
has to answer to us, then he has to. When it comes to God's law, logic
has nothing to do with it. Why is it so difficult to understand?”

“New Conversion Policy” vs New Economic Policy

The
case to declare one of the richest Chinese in the world (at his death)
as a Muslim was started 2 years ago (8 years after his death), 1 month
after another non-Muslim Malaysian tycoon’s Muslim son was able to
exclusively inherit his father’s global business empire – worth RM80
billion at that time – by proving in Syariah Court that his father had
“converted in secret,” resulting in his mother and all 9 other siblings
losing the right to inherit any part of the tycoon’s wealth, leaving
him the sole heir to the huge fortune.

There are
currently at least 200 more cases of the same nature pending before the
Syariah Courts nationwide involving deceased non-Muslims who were
wealthy during their lifetime and left behind a huge personal fortune.
Rough estimate suggests that 50% of them were started by 1 of the
Muslim children of the deceased (99% of them newly converted as
Muslims), and the rest by the Islamic Authorities seeking to disinherit
all non-Muslim children.

If all of the cases
succeed, it is estimated that the ratio of equity held by Muslims in
Malaysia would jump from the meagre 19% as at 1 January 2018 to 76%, a
whopping 3-fold increase.

The Perak Mufti,
who applauded the Syariah Court’s ruling, said that this wave of
after-death declarations of conversions is the new approach taken by
the Islamic Authority to speed up the Islamicization of Malaysia, but
is also designed to achieve the government’s goal to redistribute
wealth among the races which the government could no longer do (and
failed repeatedly to do) under the now abolished National Economic
Policy.

“By creating real economic
incentives for the dhimmis to become a real citizen of the Islamic
state, we expect more of them to embrace the true path, and this will
mean that we no longer have to rely on the NEP to achieve such noble
socio-economic goals of the government. Besides, this is more effective
because to take money away from living people will create a lot of
noise, but a dead person will not make any noise, right?” He said.

However,
it is not clear whether the non-Muslim children would still be able to
keep their inheritance if they convert to Islam immediately. The Mufti
of Perak, when consulted on this issue, said,

“If
that could bring them to Islam, then it would be good, so the Syariah
Court should allow that. But then it might be unfair to those children
who converted into Islam earlier… perhaps we can still allow them to
inherit only 30% of what an “early bird” Muslim heir would have been
able to get, to provide some “early bird bonus incentives” for them to
convert earlier. When we are dealing with Chinese, such bonus
incentives are very important, if you know what I mean. Anyway, we’ll
think about this in the next National Fatwa Council meeting. But rest
assured that we shall continue to our struggle – until the Kingdom
comes (literally).”

Chinese Beginning to Be Concerned

The Chinese community has now taken this matter very seriously and are brainstorming on the options
to overcome this problem. They have also called for an end to the
practice of declaring a person’s status as a Muslim after his or her
death, a radical change from their usual attitude to shy away from
controversial political and religious issues. Analysts believe that
this is because this is threatening their economic interests.

Supporters
of the now semi-defunct Malaysian Chinese Association, Gerakan and
Malaysian Indian Congress, still part of the ruling Barisan Nasional
coalition, have called on the top BN leadership to put forward a plan
to resolve such controversial and provocative religious issues once and
for all and in a manner which is fair to the non-Muslims. An MCA leader
who declined to be named told our reporter:

“We fear a backlash. Most NGO and opposition leaders have called on the non-Muslims to boycott
BN if no fair solution is put forward before the upcoming general
election. These issues have been around since at least the Moorthy
controversy in 2005 but still remained unresolved. The are now
affecting the basic security and fundamental well-being of the
non-Muslims.”

What is 'financial crisis?’

Readers following the great national debate initiated by Minister Idris Jala in the Prime Minister’s Department on the possibility of the country going bankrupt must be thoroughly confused with the mixed messages from government.

On the one hand, we are told that the country is more prosperous than ever before and that absolute poverty in the country, for example, is almost completely eradicated. We are also told that the country’s economy is in good hands and that the finances of the country are well-managed.

Every few days or so, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be living in Malaysia and how much foreign investors love us. Just a short while ago, it was trumpeted that our competitiveness had shot up this past year so that we are now ranked number ten in the world – ahead of many advanced economies.

We regularly receive a barrage of statistics and data on not only how well the economy is performing but also how, thanks to the outstanding economic management of the government, we will soon reach dizzier heights of prosperity and affluence.

The New Economic Model, it is claimed, will transform the Malaysian economy to become one with a high income and high quality growth. Presently, per capita annual income in Malaysia stands at RM23,100; under the NEM plan, that figure would more than double to RM49,500 by the year 2020.

Lucky Malaysians – according to the government’s plan – to be able to live in a land of milk and honey with fistfuls of ringgit to throw around and to be standing side by side with the developed countries in the foreseeable future.

We have been fed with this optimistic and glowing picture of the country’s economic prospects for so long that many of us can be forgiven for believing that we stand on the threshold of unprecedented economic prosperity if not greatness. Never mind that doubt –in the way of the impoverished in our slums, squatter and ulu areas – is often just around the corner, many Malaysians prefer to close their eyes to this reality.

Idris Jala’s wake-up call

Fortunately or unfortunately, thanks to Minister Idris, we have now received a dose of reality that our economic situation is more complicated and a lot worse than what earlier leaders and the government-controlled media would like us to believe.

Although a few recalcitrant leaders are still living in denial and claiming that the minister has misled Malaysians on the true state of the country’s financial health, a closer look at Idris’s speech during the open house on ‘subsidy reduction’ shows that his concern and warning on the country becoming bankrupt (in the same way as Greece is) was absolutely correct and spot on.

Idris’s warning is based on a number of economic projections including:

* the country’s GDP would grow at 3% annually
* government debt continues to grow at 12% annually

Both assumptions are not unreasonable.

Average GDP growth has been slowing down in the past two decades. Prior to the Asian financial crisis of 1997-98, the country’s growth rate averaged 9% from 1990-1997. Between 2000 and 2008, growth rates fell to an average of 5.5%. If the trend of slowing growth continues, then the assumption of 3% GDP annual growth for 2011-2020 may well prove correct.

If there is no quick recovery in the global economy and we have a prolonged double-dip recession which seems more likely now following the ongoing financial crisis in the Euro zone, then even 3% annual growth in the GDP may seem optimistic.

As for the country’s debt, government debt in 1997 was RM90 billion. This has grown at a rate of 12% per annum to RM362 billion today. Based on a similar annual increase of 12% over the next nine years, the country’s debt will balloon to RM1.16 trillion by 2019.

The government’s own Performance Management and Delivery Unit’s calculations show that by the year 2019, the following economic scenario will be faced by the Malaysian government:

* The country’s projected debt will be 103% of GDP
* The fiscal deficit will reach RM449 billion or 38% of GDP

At that point, what will happen is that government revenue will not be enough to service its debt and to operate the hospitals, schools and other government services. In other words, the country will go into sovereign debt crisis, which is a polite way of saying that the country will become bankrupt.

The bigger subsidies are …

Where Idris went wrong is not in his assumptions and projections but in his focus on subsidies as the main culprit in the country’s perilous financial state. Addressing a public audience and as a member of the Barisan Nasional government, however, he was not in a position to finger the colossal wastage, inefficiency and corruption that has characterized Barisan rule and economic management of the country.

Yes, subsidies are part of the cause of our potential financial downfall but it is not subsidies to the poor that are to be blamed – in fact, the entire food subsidy bill in 2009 was only RM3.4 billion or less than the cost of the two recently purchased low-quality diesel submarines that cannot even dive properly! What is being spent on tolls, sugar, flour, cooking oil, school books, etc. is only a tiny fraction of what goes into the country’s black hole of defence expenditure (see attached box).

Instead of being fixated on subsidies to the poor, let us open the books on the subsidies that have gone to the ruling political elite and its business allies – the cronies, middlemen, consultants, and agents that are key to the massive binge of irresponsible government procurement in all sectors, especially defence.

Finally, it is also the subsidy of a huge, bloated and unsustainable civil service that is swallowing much of public revenue and helping to pile up our debt. Subsidies that have kept the cost of living down for the average Malaysian are only a small part of the larger subsidy equation.

The Black Hole of the Country’s Defence Expenditure

Although Malaysia publishes an annual defence budget figure as part of the government's state budget, it is split into just two sections - operating and development expenditure - and it is widely thought that real defence spending is significantly higher than the official budget suggests.

The official budget, for example, does not include defence industry funding, nor does it cover certain procurement items which are sometimes settled by other arrangements including barter agreements. What is certain is that actual spending has exceeded the official budget regularly in recent years. According to the Malay Ministry of Defence, expenditure in 2006 (the most recent year for which expenditure details are available) was 8.5 per cent higher than the budget allocation, with the majority of the overspend coming in the operations budget.

This was not unusual as the degree to which military spending exceeded budget allocations has been steadily increasing since 2003, going from 3 percent in that year to 3.8 per cent in 2004 and to 5.5 per cent in 2005.2007 and 2008 saw further budget increases, fuelled in part by sustained economic growth of around 6 per cent in real terms, while the government has also seen increase in its revenues and expenditure. However, during 2007 and 2008 overspending was also recorded in the operations budget by 1.7 percent and 6.5 percent respectively with 2008 entailing an operations expenditure of MYR10.597 billion, whereas the actual allocation was MYR 9.939 billion. The 2009 allocation appears to have reflected this with MYR10.65 billion

Consequences of mismanagement

So what happens when the country becomes bankrupt?

When ordinary citizens or businesses become bankrupt, they can hide behind a court order and return to some kind of normal life thereafter. Those who have borrowed from Ah Longs, of course, cannot throw themselves at the mercy of the courts. They are more likely to be forced to rely on family members or friends to help them reach some kind of settlement or have to flee their aggressive creditors by changing their residence or even identity.

Countries that are in default do not have the luxury of changing their identity or getting a court to provide some measure of protection. In Argentina which defaulted on sovereign borrowings and debt repayment in 2001, the consequences were horrendous. The country experienced a brutal spiral of inflation followed by hyperinflation, soaring unemployment soared and a collapse in the currency.

The economy imploded, shrinking by 13 per cent in a year and the government was forced to cut public sector wages, slash the state pension and other social benefits. Unable to pay for goods with cash and with banks rationing withdrawals, citizens had to resort to bartering. Imported goods became unattainable.

Economic shock was followed by social trauma and political crisis. The quality of life of the average Argentinian was lowered drastically and many businesses closed or went bankrupt. Argentinian society has still to recover fully from the mismanagement of the country’s economy during the late 90s.

Let us pray – but prayer is not enough – let us make sure that the government never mismanages the Malaysian economy to the stage when we have to go through what the people of Argentina have had to suffer.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

According to a research, the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener emit Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin
