Abu Dhabi Hotel Regrets $11M Spent on Christmas Tree Decorations
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – An Abu Dhabi luxury hotel that boasted an $11 million Christmas tree decorated with gold and gems admitted Sunday it may have taken the holiday spirit a bit too far.
A statement from the Emirates Palace hotel said it regretted "attempts to overload" the Christmas tree tradition by adorning it with premium bling including gold, rubies, diamonds and other precious stones from a hotel jeweler.
The statement was a rare bit of reflection on the Gulf's ethos of excess. The tree was unveiled last week with full fanfare in a hotel that features its own gold bar vending machine and a one-week $1 million package that includes private jet jaunts around the Middle East.
But the hotel management apparently had second thoughts after questions arose about whether the opulent tree was innocent good cheer or unfortunate bad taste.
The hotel regrets "attempts to overload the tradition followed by most hotels in the country with meanings and connotations that do not fall in line with the (hotel's) professional standards," said a statement carried on the state-run news agency WAM.
"The hotel is just a venue for exhibiting the tree," the statement said.
The hotel also claimed the tree was not a stunt, but rather an effort to boost the holiday mood for its guests based on the United Arab Emirates' "values of openness and tolerance."
Although officially Muslim, the UAE features many signs of Christmas for its huge foreign population. Lights, carolers and Santas are fixtures in nearly every mall.

Count your lucky stars
"KUALA LUMPUR: Seven people were killed and 39 others injured in a bus accident at Genting Sempah.
The accident, which happened at 7.50pm last night, involved a group from the 4B Youth Movement, Kampung Siong, Kedah, said Selangor traffic chief Supt Che Hussein Omar.
“Seventeen were seriously injured while the remaining 22 suffered minor injuries,” he said.
“Two people were thrown out from the bus.”
He added police were investigating the driver for reckless driving.
The group of 44 had chartered an express bus from Baling for the trip.
It is learnt that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle before it hit the road divider and overturned several times at KM38 of Jalan Genting Sempah, some 300m from the Karak Highway.
The co-driver said he was asleep when the crash happened.
“When I got up, the bus was rolling,” he added. "

Double Helix
Tot you said no more posting?
From the very beginning I’ve told you already the argument is on the length of travel, distance, not “near” but you consistently disagree with this. How can we be discussing what is near and far if your definition and mine differs so much? My 180 is created by you when you deemed that I am using perception as definition. Twisted facts. What I am trying to prove in my relativity of near is just to refute your insistence of me saying yes to your question. The conclusion that I made in there which you did not care to notice;
"Therefore my answer to you that day holds no water to supports not your “watevar theory” of the argument we are having now."
Never once did I state that I did not agree with you on that day. And when I did say that I’ve agreed on the “near” of yours, again here you’re implying that I am agree to your statement as a full and bring in a conclusion which suits your own.
You’ve also been using the “near” to build your argument. While rejecting my notion of using range to define “near”, you set upon using perception as a tool of judgement.
The supposed Aaron’s theory which is not his, it’s totally mine and I’ve know of the actuality but for joke purposes did I infer it that way.
180?
And you just prove me right after so long...
My statement was " Ulu Yam was near, you said it was far, you can disagree with me by saying its far but to me its near so how can you say im wrong when my perception of it is near...that is the basis of the argument, and you yourself in your post have said that you answered my question in relative context, so its okay for you to answer in relative context but when i made the statement in relative context you rejected my statement and claim your right...so tell me now who is the Fuhrer?? and dont forget i made the statement first and you rejected it second...so in conclusion just admit you disagree with my statement and tried to make your argument look right by using aaron's theory which you never realised until he said it, using the 50km mark which was'nt stated before, and finally after seeing what is wrong with your argument turn 180 and say that now you answer in relative context WHERE ELSE my statement was always and will be based on my perception of "near" and the story to which i went ulu yam plays an important part ...so now who is spinning more and more?
"Ok, I did say that Genting was “near” when you asked me the question. However, the answer I gave you, the "yes" I uttered was in a relative context. How so? When I said genting was "near" it doesn't always imply that other nearby area e.g. Ulu Yam is although they maybe physically "near" to each other. The relative "near" answer I gave was because of the nature of the location itself where Genting is "near" to me at the point of question is due to the place being a center for activity where one can be doing all whatsoever activities available legal or otherwise and the definition changes with circumstances (I was bored at that time and needed entertainment)"
Near far wherever you are~
TL;DR ?
“You said it was far, i said it was near to sg long and you said nearer to pahang, then i ask you is genting near? you said yes...so your saying its near and because ulu yam and genting is already near to each other this means that your supporting my theory that its nearirrelevant of the distance already...So now you yourself have already supported my notion of "near" even before you stated the distance, which you didn't on the day of the alleged argument which makes it irrelevant (refer to point 3)”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are saying that the argument which I've forgotten of the actual content is, about near Pahang of near Sg. Long then I might as well just be declared the winner because Ulu Yam is definitely located closer to Pahang.(lazy do map to show again, you can’t read maps)
Furthermore I would not argue when it comes to intangible reasoning such as “near” or “far” and thus I did remember mentioning about the distance which you seems to have the term distorted to “near” somewhere in your argument and rendering my point unusable(forcefully) with your standing of “I did not mention”.
Now for the “near”
If we’re to continue this with your so call notion of “near” then I might as well call you Fuhrer Siang because you’re being a dictator in defining the “near” of yours and using it to combat it against my argument.
Ok, I did say that Genting was “near” when you asked me the question. However, the answer I gave you, the "yes" I uttered was in a relative context. How so? When I said genting was "near" it doesn't always imply that other nearby area e.g. Ulu Yam is although they maybe physically "near" to each other. The relative "near" answer I gave was because of the nature of the location itself where Genting is "near" to me at the point of question is due to the place being a center for activity where one can be doing all whatsoever activities available legal or otherwise and the definition changes with circumstances (I was bored at that time and needed entertainment).
To a person like Danny whom is working, were we on that day to call for "yc" would surely define Genting as "far". Why? Because he has to get his arse up to work next day in the morning and would’ve wanted somewhere “near” (near being able to get home by max 1am).
I’ve always joked about going to Kuantan for sunrise viewing before, because for the purpose itself I define the place as being “near” while the rest of you would fark me inside out because the none of you doesn’t share my purpose and see the journey as “far”.
Therefore my answer to you that day holds no water to supports not your “watevar theory” of the argument we are having now.
Sg. Long Kok – Ulu Yam
From Sg. Long to Ulu Yam, using the only logical route to reach would surely pass by any of the routes that I’ve stated before, and thus It only adds to the travelling(add= +) time, thus making the journey further.
RM5,800 to charity.
Lazy post
1) The argument is totally on the distance of travel because I called on JS to use his "lopek" GPS
My point
The whole point of the argument was i said IT WAS NEAR! you said it was FAR!...you NEVER said anything about distance...since near and far depends on the user of the term you should realise that with your agreement of my "Near" terms and conditions i already won the argument...Basically this sums up my argument...and im lazy cos you keep saying things which i already stated in the previous post...ah hong ah hong...
You said it was far, i said it was near to sg long and you said nearer to pahang, then i ask you is genting near? you said yes...so your saying its near and because ulu yam and genting is already near to each other this means that your supporting my theory that its near irrelevant of the distance already...So now you yourself have already supported my notion of "near" even before you stated the distance, which you didn't on the day of the alleged argument which makes it irrelevant (refer to point 3)
2) Sg Long is NOT nearer to Ulu Yam, see map for reference.(I got A for geography, wrote my name, IC and address)
Like i said above the term "Near"depends on the users intention and purpose and for all intentions and purposes i have said its near for me...you disagree with my statement....the onus was on you to prove that its not near for me....but how can your argue near and far when the terms does not have the same meaning as to other people? so that's why i asked you the question above which i have highlighted for your reading purposes...when you agree to my questions you were already agreeing to my term of "near"and thus giving me the golden key to rm5800...
3)
3) Your so called argument now revolves around aaron's calculation and the 50km mark (which wasn't stated/implied/made clear at the time of the argument) which has no whatsoever meaning when i ask you a simple question...Have you drove from sg long to ulu yam? like i guess...NO...so who has more experience when talking about this matter? the person who drove there right? and i've driven there more than 2 times for fun...i dont care how many ways you have gone before as long as you havent taken the route from sungai long to ulu yam it doesnt matter whether its from your hse from my hse from aaron's hse not your kampung or whatever place BUT from SG LONG TO ULU YAM!
I already stated everything in my previous post...the maps dont matter because the argument is on term "near" and you are really forgetful....Dont you dare say you didnt agree saying genting was near...I lazy spam d...so i give you one last chance to post one more thing i wont reply cos i know i already won that day, that why i didnt say anything more about it...if you cannot argue on the said "term" which you already agreed on that day then better dont post already...and for the record pls answer me whether you honestly agreed whether genting was near in your next post...save me time as its the whole main point of the argument...and if you said no...then ah hong you really purposely forget lor...XD
-fs- singing money money money...
SusuSusuSg Looong kat mana?
Free 5.8k...
The main points which you fail to state in your argument!
1) You said it was far, i said it was near to sg long and you said nearer to pahang, then i ask you is genting near? you said yes...so your saying its near and because ulu yam and genting is already near to each other this means that your supporting my theory that its near irrelevant of the distance already...So now you yourself have already supported my notion of "near" even before you stated the distance, which you didn't on the day of the alleged argument which makes it irrelevant (refer to point 3)
2) Your the one who said that it was in PAHANG, i stated NO! its nearer and for you information its in SELANGOR...look it up...and you just told Andy that selangor was in kuala lumpur...(anyone who doesnt believe can ask andy and js as my witness) so how can you get A for your geography? i seriously doubt the capability of the teacher that marks your paper and gave you an A for if that is the case even if i wrote my name i would get an -A...

Technician wins RM11mil jackpot
KUALA LUMPUR: A technician in his 30s, who works in the Klang Valley, has won RM11.66mil in his first attempt at the Power Toto 6/55 lotto game on Aug 25 with the numbers 12, 16, 28, 39, 40 and 47.
Although he regularly plays various Toto games, the winner’s lucky try on Power Toto 6/55 was his first, said Toto in a media statement.
When he realised that he had the winning set of numbers, the technician called his mother to share the good news and had to take sleeping pills on the night of the draw.
He went with a friend to claim his winnings at the Sports Toto’s head office here. The man seemed to have gotten over the shock of winning a multi-million jackpot and seemed unfazed about managing his new-found fortune.
He said that he has always invested in shares and unit trust funds and would now buy properties besides purchasing a house for himself and each of his family members.
The latest record winnings came less than two weeks after a RM5.89mil jackpot was won.
On Aug 14, a security officer from Johor won the money in the Mega Toto 6/52 lotto game through a set of numbers derived from observing number plates of moving vehicles or boats which he records as a pastime.
The latest win means that Toto jackpots have paid a total of RM17.55mil to two winners in less than two weeks. (thestar. 2010)Note: when is my turn (JS).. an adviser is his 23, who works in the Klang Valley, has won RM30mil in his first attempt at the Supreme Toto 6/58 lotto game on JAN 1 2011. HAHAHHAHAHA (JS . 2010)

Man who lost RM62mil gambling to sue casino (LOL ?)
A RICH Singaporean man, who lost S$26mil (RM62mil) in a three-day gambling spree, plans to sue a world-renowned casino there for loaning him a huge sum of money to gamble without first checking his financial position, reported China Press.
According to a legal document, the 50-year-old businessman, was loaned S$500,000 (RM1.2mil) for gambling by the casino in March and the loan was later increased to S$2mil (RM4.8mil) the following month.
He also claimed that he had experienced losing and winning money amounting to a few hundred thousand dollars in each gambling session and once it reached as high as S$6mil (RM15mil) and yet he could still get a loan by just filling up an application form.
When his losses exceeded S$4mil (RM9.6mil), the businessman said his girlfriend cried and begged the casino not to loan him any more money.
In spite of that, the casino staff told him that he could continue getting loans although he had exceeded the credit limit.
